{"id":1122,"date":"2021-08-26T15:36:24","date_gmt":"2021-08-27T01:36:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.christianhomeschoolersofhawaii.org\/?page_id=1122"},"modified":"2022-02-11T21:54:03","modified_gmt":"2022-02-12T07:54:03","slug":"tips-for-the-day","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/mail.christianhomeschoolersofhawaii.org\/index.php\/tips-for-the-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Tips for the Day\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1><strong>Tips for the Day<\/strong><\/h1>\n<h3>Keep Christ the focus of your homeschool<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Begin the day with the Lord in His word and in prayer<\/li>\n<li>\u201cThis is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.\u201d Psalm 118:24<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Deal with disciplinary issues as they arise<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Academics are important but focusing on godly character focuses on eternity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Consider your family\u2019s habits<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>You know your children and how your family functions<\/li>\n<li>Just because your best friend starts at 8:00 in the morning, does not mean you have to begin at that time also<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Start with a good breakfast! \u2013 simple is fine!<\/h3>\n<h3>Include morning, lunch, and dinner chores into your daily schedule<\/h3>\n<h3>Integrate life skills \u2013 cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc. \u2013 with your school day<\/h3>\n<h3>Turn off your cell phone or use an answering machine<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Let family and friends know when you are\/are not available<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Have a beginning time and ending time for the day<\/h3>\n<h3>Work with your toddler or younger children first<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Younger children are usually most attentive in the morning<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Involve older children in the teaching of the younger children or in playing with a toddler or infant<\/h3>\n<h3>Consider teaching the more difficult subjects early in day<\/h3>\n<h3>Consider multi-level teaching for subjects such as Bible, science, social studies\/history<\/h3>\n<h3>Establish a routine and yet be flexible<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>If you prefer a schedule, let it guide you, not master you<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Include daily quiet time after lunch, even for older children<\/h3>\n<h3>If you\u2019re new to homeschooling, start slow<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>perhaps get into the routine with 3 subjects and add another 1 every week<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>It\u2019s ok to take an unplanned break \u2013 that\u2019s one of the reasons for those \u2018down\u2019 days<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3>Smile!\u00a0 \u201cRejoice in the Lord always.\u00a0 Again I say rejoice.\u201d\u00a0 Philippians 4:4<\/h3>\n<h3>Keep Christ the focus of your homeschool.<\/h3>\n<h3>End each day with praise and thanksgiving!<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cOh give thanks to the LORD, for He is good!
